Defensive Reads
Pre-snap, check for two receiver stacks or bunch formations since this call is designed to jump rub routes and option releases with press man on the outside. Watch the single high safety alignment before the snap, if the offense sees only one deep defender they will likely attack with go routes or deep posts to isolate your corners. Post-snap, key the robber defender's drop to see if he sits in the hole to take away digs and crossers, this is the primary threat this play is designed to erase. This shell struggles against four verticals or double moves against the press corners since there is no help over the top on the outside beyond the single safety. Watch for the running back or tight end leaking out late as a checkdown, since man defenders can lose contain if they overcommit to the robber's underneath zone.
