Dbl Safety Go is a safety blitz out of Dime Big 1-4-6, sending both safeties off the edges as extra rushers while the four linebackers drop into a shortened zone shell underneath. The two outside corners run vertical go routes to the boundary in the diagram, but this is the defensive call, so those X markers represent receivers you are defending, not routes you control. The blocking assignment shows the two inside backers reading run/pass and collapsing to the middle of the field while the outside backers wall off the flats, with the primary read for the blitzing safeties being immediate pressure off the edge before the quarterback can climb the pocket.
Pre-snap, check if the offense has trips or four verticals looks, since this blitz leaves no deep safety help over the top. Watch the running back for check release protection, which signals the offense is picking up the safety blitz and buys the quarterback time. Post-snap, key the quarterback's eyes immediately after the snap to react to any hot route beating the vacated deep middle. This call gets shut down by quick game slants and stick routes that exploit the shallow linebacker drops before the blitz arrives. Use the underneath zone defenders to jump any crossing routes since the four linebackers are your only intermediate coverage once the safeties commit.
Call this on early downs or short yardage when you expect a run or quick game concept, since both safeties vacate deep coverage to blitz.
Check the offensive formation pre-snap for max protect or extra tight ends, which tells you the blitz has a numbers advantage at the point of attack.
Use manual control on one of the blitzing safeties to time the snap count and disguise the blitz as a two-high shell until the ball is snapped.
Pair this with Cover 4 Drop or Cover 2 Sink from the same set to keep quarterbacks guessing between a two-safety blitz look and a true two-high zone shell.
Avoid this call on obvious passing downs against spread formations, since the underneath zone gets stretched horizontally with no deep safety help.
