Fake Fg Rollout Pass is a trick play out of the Field Goal formation that catches defenses selling out to block the kick. The holder rolls out off a fake snap while the kicker or a designated eligible receiver releases downfield, giving you a simple two-level read against a defense that is not aligned to cover routes. This is a play-action style trick concept built for one specific purpose: exploiting a defense that bites on the field goal look, with the primary read being the first man open on the roll, checking the flat option before working to the deeper route if the defense fully commits to the block rush.
Pre-snap, look for a defense that has committed extra rushers to the block attempt with no deep safety rotated over the top, this is the shell that gets exploited If the defense keeps a linebacker or safety spying the holder and holding contain, the play is dead before it starts, take the sack or throw it away Post-snap, key the edge defender responsible for containment, if he crashes upfield to block the kick instead of squeezing the roll, the flat and intermediate windows open immediately Watch for a user-controlled defender staying home in the middle of the field, a smart opponent will often keep one eye on the fake even in field goal personnel Zone shells with soft corners sitting on the sideline will bracket the rollout route, so only trust the throw once you see man coverage or a total coverage bust
Only call this on fourth down or short third down situations where the CPU or opposing user has shown a tendency to rush the kick without checking for fakes
Watch the defensive alignment before the snap, if you see the defense crashing hard off the edge or leaving the field with no deep safety help, this is the moment to pull the trigger
Use this sparingly across a franchise or match series since opponents will start respecting the fake once they get burned by it, mix it in with Fake Fg Sprintout Pass and Fake Fg K Toss Pass to keep the defense guessing on personnel and direction
Hot route the underneath outlet to a quick out if you expect man coverage on the edge defender, this gives the holder an instant answer if the roll gets pressured
Sequence this after running a normal Field Goal 2 or two earlier in the game so the defense relaxes its discipline before you spring the trick
