Instead of the standard kick or holder run, the kicker gets the toss and has the option to throw off the edge to a releasing blocker or wing who slips out into the flat, making this a designed run action pass rather than a true dropback concept. The primary read is the flat release man first since defenses selling out to stop the kick block or crash down on the toss will leave that area wide open, with the kicker's own scramble or pitch lane serving as the backup option if the throw window closes.
Pre-snap, check whether the defense has a spy or extra defender shaded toward the kicker's side, which signals they are aware of the fake and will blow up the toss before it develops. Watch the edge defender assigned to contain since a hard crash inside to block the kick leaves the flat wide open for the release man. If the defense keeps a linebacker or safety at normal depth without selling out on the block, that defender can undercut the toss or drive on the flat throw and shut down both options. Post-snap, track any user controlled defender flying downhill immediately at snap, as that usually means the human opponent recognized the fake formation and will blow up the kicker in the backfield. Against a true hands team or fake punt and field goal aware defense, this play has almost no equity and should be avoided since the extra defenders neutralize both the run and pass options.
Only call this when you have identified that the defense is in a standard field goal block package with no awareness of the fake, since disguised personnel is what makes this play live. Look for defenses that crash hard off the edge or bring a safety down into the box on field goal formation, as that aggressive alignment opens the flat release immediately. Use pre-snap motion or a quick look at the defensive alignment to confirm no defender is spying the kicker before committing to the toss. Sequence this play alongside Fake Fg Holder Blast and Fake Fg Holder Power earlier in a set or game so the defense grows comfortable expecting a run fake, then hit them with the K Toss Pass to catch outside contain flat footed. Save this for short yardage or fourth down field goal range situations where the opponent is more likely to line up in a true block formation instead of a hands team or fake awareness look.
