Play diagram for WR Deep Outs from Singleback Spread in Madden 27

Quick Reference

Breakdown

WR Deep Outs from Singleback Spread lines up with four receivers and an empty-ish 10 personnel look, keeping the HB in as a check-release protector. The two outside receivers break hard to the boundary on out routes, the inner slot runs a deep dig-style comeback breaking back to the quarterback, and the far left receiver pushes vertically before snapping outside on a deep out at the numbers, giving you a true out-route quartet stretching the field horizontally at multiple depths. This is a man beater built to punish trail technique and beat off-man leverage, with the primary read starting outside left to the deep out breaking to the sideline, then working inside to the comeback route and finally to the boundary out on the right if the corner sits soft.

Defensive Reads

Pre-snap, identify single high versus two deep safeties, since Cover 1 and Cover 3 with aggressive corners are the most vulnerable to the out breaks. Watch cornerback press alignment, if they are pressing at the line you want to hot route a route adjustment or check to Slot Pivot instead since the timing on the outs gets disrupted by a jam. Post-snap, key the flat defender in zone coverage, if he sinks with the underneath route he leaves the deep out uncovered at the sideline. User-controlled defenders sitting on the deep out or lurking in the throwing lane are the biggest threat, so look off the primary out route and work back to the comeback if you see a user closing fast. Cover 4 and Cover 2 with sticky corners at depth can shut this down since the outs have nowhere to go once the corner sinks with the route, so be ready to check into a run or screen if you see this shell pre-snap.

Usage Tips

Check the safety alignment before the snap, two deep safeties with soft corners tells you the outs will be there all game.

Hot route the HB out of protection into a flat route if you see a blitz look with six or more defenders showing pressure.

Attack Cover 3 by targeting the deep out breaking away from the flat defender since the corner has to sink and cannot cover both depth and width.

Pair this play with Curl Flats or Slant Flats in the same set to keep defenders honest on shorter zone drops, then dial up WR Deep Outs once they start jumping underneath routes.

Best used on second and long or third and medium when you need a route that settles at a defined depth and gives the quarterback a rhythm timing throw.
