Stick out of Singleback Bunch Ace lines up with a bunch set to the right and an isolated receiver to the left. The lone receiver runs a quick out breaking route while the bunch releases into a classic stick concept: the flat runs a shallow flat route, the middle receiver sits down on the stick route at the sticks, and the outside receiver clears vertically before turning into a corner route to stretch the defense deep. This is a man and zone beater built for quick timing throws, with the stick route as the primary read against zone and the flat/corner combo creating natural picks and leverage against man coverage.
Check the corner over the bunch pre-snap, if he is playing outside leverage the flat route will be wide open underneath him. Watch the middle linebacker depth, if he sits shallow the stick route will be covered so progress to the corner route behind him. Identify Cover 3 shells early since the stick concept is designed to attack the seams created by the underneath zone defenders. Look for a user lurking the flat, if a defender jumps the flat route immediately, come back to the stick or corner route in rhythm. Against man blitzes, the isolated receiver's quick out or hot-routed slant becomes your answer since the bunch protection may not hold up long.
Read the flat defender first since he decides whether the stick or flat route is open against zone coverage.
Against man coverage, use the natural rub from the bunch alignment to spring the shallow flat route open immediately after the snap.
Hot route the backside isolated receiver into a quick slant if you see man press to give yourself an instant answer versus blitz.
This play works best on third and short to medium since the stick route sits right at the sticks for an easy conversion.
Pair Stick with PA Boot Corner Post or Drive Y Trail from the same set so defenses cannot sit on the quick stick concept once you establish it early in the drive.
