PA Slide out of Shotgun Wing Stack is a play-action pass built around a three-level stretch to one side of the field. The play fakes the run to hold the linebackers, then the tight end from the stack releases on a corner route up top, a slot receiver runs a quick out that turns into a slide/flat route, and a receiver from the backside works a deep drift across the field along the sideline. This is a zone beater that attacks flat defenders and hook zones with the corner route clearing vertically while the slide route sits underneath, and the deep drift gives you a home run shot if the safety bites on the play fake. Primary read progression starts with the corner route for a shot play, works down to the flat/slide route as the quick outlet, and finishes with the deep drift as a checkdown against soft zone coverage.

Check the strong safety depth before the snap, if he is sitting shallow expecting run he is a liability against the corner route Watch for cornerback alignment on the tight end in the stack, press man coverage on him can disrupt the timing of the corner route release Post snap, identify if the flat defender widens with the slide route or stays home to jump the underlying zone, this tells you whether the flat is open Look for a user linebacker spying the play fake instead of dropping into coverage, this creates a soft spot in the middle for the deep drift route Cover 3 with an aggressive nickel blitz can beat this play if the quarterback does not get through the fake quickly, since the corner route takes time to develop and the pocket collapses fast
Usage Tips
Sell the play fake by holding the ball low and letting the run action play out before your first read, this is what freezes linebackers and opens the corner route window
Use this on early downs like first or second and short to medium yardage when defenses are more likely to sit in base zone coverage instead of loading the box
If the safety shows two high pre-snap, key on the corner route since it is more likely to have a soft window against split safety shells
Pair this play with 0 1 Trap or Read Option in your play-calling sequence so the defense has to respect the run fake every time you show this personnel and formation
Hot route the deep drift receiver into a deeper crossing route against zone heavy defenses to stress the middle of the field even further after the play fake holds linebackers
