Watch for blitz packages including nano blitzes since rushers flying upfield make this play more effective by removing themselves from the throwing lane. Post-snap key on middle linebackers and any user-controlled defender sitting in a shallow zone or spy role, as they are the primary threat to blow up the screen before blockers get set. If the defense shows zone coverage with a linebacker reading the backfield or slow-playing the snap, expect them to sit on the screen and abandon this play call. Look for cornerbacks staying deep with safeties over the top in a two-high shell, which confirms the defense is respecting the verticals and leaving the screen lane open underneath.
