H Wing takes the Weak I skeleton (fullback offset away from the tight end) and replaces a traditional split end with a wing tight end stacked tight off the line, giving you a 22 personnel look with two tight ends, a fullback, and a halfback. Unlike the base Weak I sets that put a receiver wide to the weak side, H Wing keeps everything condensed, which shrinks the defense's cover distance and forces safeties to cheat down. That tightened formation is why the Gadget tag applies: defenses read heavy personnel and immediately size down into 4-3 or Big 4-3 base looks, which is exactly the matchup you want when you break out PA Boot Lt or Toss Weak.
Open with HB Gut and HB Stretch on first down to bait the safety down, then hit PA Boot Lt or PA Power O on second and medium when the box is stacked.
Read the safety count pre-snap: if you see single-high, the boot concepts and X Slant win outside the numbers, but against two-high stick with Toss Weak and Strong Stretch to attack the edge.
Motion the wing tight end and watch whether a linebacker travels. Man coverage means run Slants or hot route the wing on a drag to isolate the mismatch.
Hot route the fullback to a flat or angle route on the play-action calls to give yourself a pressure outlet against interior blitz packages.
Use this set in short-yardage and goal-line situations where the defense must respect HB Power O, then cross them up with PA Boot for an easy scoring throw to the wing.
