Overview

Where the base Weak I sets spread the split end out to the boundary and force the defense to declare coverage across the full width of the field, Slot Close compresses everything into a two-way-go bunch look on the strong side. That compression is the whole point: it shrinks throwing lanes for the defense as much as it does for you, and it puts the slot receiver in a spot where he cannot be pressed cleanly without the defense committing an extra body to the box.
The 21 personnel grouping (2 RB, 1 TE) means the defense is almost always answering with base or nickel, not dime. That gives you a linebacker or safety matched on the slot receiver in man coverage, which is the matchup this set is built to hunt. The PA Flood and PA Boot Slide plays weaponize that alignment by using the fullback and tight end to sell run action before flooding one side with three levels, while HB Dive and Inside Zone Split give you the interior downhill runs that make the play-action believable. The Power HB tag is not decoration here: the offset back and extra blocker let you run gap and zone concepts out of a look that reads identical to your pass shots.
Mesh is the money concept out of Slot Close. The condensed spacing means the crossers get on top of each other quickly, and man defenders trailing through traffic get rubbed off almost immediately. Against zone, the same tight alignment lets you flood a single hook zone with two bodies and force a defender to pick. Layer in 94 Will as your gadget wrinkle to keep users from sitting on the same three concepts, and the SLWR and 3DRB tags let you sub a burner into the slot or a receiving back into the halfback spot without changing the formation shell.

Usage Tips
Use Slot Close on second and short or third and medium when the defense shows a stacked box, because the run threat is real and the play action concepts punish overcommitment.
Read the slot defender pre-snap: if a linebacker walks out over the condensed slot, hot route him on a corner or fade and throw the matchup immediately.
Run HB Dive and Inside Zone Split early to establish the run action, then come back to PA Flood and PA Boot Slide in the same series from the same look.
Against heavy blitz looks, hot route the fullback to a flat or block assignment and keep your halfback in as a chip blocker so PA Boot Slide has time to reach the second level.
Save 94 Will for a situational shot on a down and distance where the opponent is expecting run, and sub your SLWR speed threat into the slot before you call it.
