This is a straight dropback pass with the trips side providing the flood underneath to occupy linebackers and hold the middle defender, while the isolated post reader on the backside is your primary key against single high or Cover 2 shells. The progression starts with the post if you see a safety cheat toward the trips side, then works to the corner route breaking outside as the natural conversion versus two deep zone defenders squeezing the middle.
Defensive Reads
Pre-snap, check safety depth and alignment since a two high shell tips Cover 2 or Cover 4, which softens the post route window but opens up the corner route behind the cornerback's outside leverage. Watch for the cornerback's press alignment on the isolated receiver, since press man coverage invites a nano blitz risk but also means the post route can separate quickly off the release if you win at the line. Post-snap, track the safety rotation on the backside since a hard rotation to the trips side signals zone coverage and confirms the post is your first read against the vacated middle. Identify any user-controlled defender lurking near the deep middle third, since a smart user will sit in the passing lane between the post and corner routes and bait a turnover if you force the throw. Look for linebacker blitz packages off the edge or A gap since this is a five or six man protection concept, and a well timed blitz can collapse the pocket before the post corner combination has time to develop downfield.

Pre-snap, identify whether the defense is showing two high safeties or a single high shell before the snap since that dictates which route you prioritize in your progression.
If you see Cover 2, target the deep post route first because it splits the safeties and creates a natural window between the corner and safety before the corner route breaks open late.
