HB Dive out of Singleback Doubles Y Off Close is a straight downhill run play that sends the running back directly through the A gap behind the center. The offensive line blocks a standard dive scheme with the interior linemen taking on down blocks and the fullback role absorbed by the TE alignment, sealing the middle of the field for a quick hitting gap shot. This is a pure run play with no play-action or RPO element attached, designed to punish light boxes and overaggressive linebacker flow with a north-south burst. The primary read progression for the ball carrier is A gap first, then bounce off the initial hole to either B gap depending on how the second level defenders flow.
