Fk Toss Post Sit is a play-action fake toss concept out of Shotgun Stack HB WK that sells the outside run before working into a post and sit combo downfield. The offensive line and HB sell the toss fake to the flow side, drawing linebacker eyes and safety triggers before the receivers break into their routes, making this an effective man and zone beater depending on the leverage the defense shows. The primary read progression starts with the post route attacking the middle of the field against single high shells, then works down to the sit route as the underneath zone beater against Cover 2 or Cover 4 shells that keep two safeties deep.
Identify single high versus two high safety shells pre-snap since that dictates whether the post or the sit route is your primary target. Watch linebacker depth at the snap, if they bite hard on the toss fake, the post route behind them will be wide open for an explosive gain. Key the flow side cornerback leverage, if he is playing outside shade in man coverage the post route has an easy angle to separate inside. Look for a user controlled defender sitting in a shallow zone or lurking near the sit route depth, this is the biggest threat to disrupt the underneath read. Cover 3 with a hard charging linebacker on the fake can be exploited since the post route splits the seam behind the rotated safety, but disciplined zone drops that stay home on the play-action fake shut down both routes and force a checkdown.
Use this play on early downs or short yardage situations where defenses are keying run to maximize the play-action toss fake and get linebackers flowing hard to the fake side. Check the safety alignment pre-snap, if you see one high safety, prioritize the post route immediately off the snap since the middle of the field will be open. Against two high shells, work the sit route as your first read since it settles into the soft spot of the zone behind the linebackers and in front of the safeties. Pair this play with Mtn Outside Zone or Toss Wk earlier in a series to sell the actual toss action, then hit this play-action shot once the defense starts jumping the run fits. If the user drops a defender into a shallow zone lurk, hot route the sit route to a deeper curl or work the post as a hot read against man coverage to beat trail technique.
