Watch for press man coverage on the stacked receivers presnap, this is the ideal shell for Curl Switch since the switch release naturally beats trail technique and man match defenders. Identify Cover 3 sink or Cover 4 quarters shells postsnap by tracking the curl route depth, if the flat defender and hook defender both sit in the throwing lane the curl window will be tight and you should progress to the HB check release quickly. Key any user controlled linebacker or safety flashing down into the curl window presnap, this often signals a lurk technique designed to jump the curl route, so be ready to move to your next read instead of forcing the throw. Against zone blitzes, identify which underneath defender is vacating the curl zone to blitz, since that void often opens up an easy completion window for the switch release receiver working across the middle. If the defense shows two high safeties with corners playing off, expect Cover 2 or Cover 4 match, which can clog the curl routes, so be prepared to hot route the curl into a deeper corner or post to attack the seams.
