Off the play-action fake, the two outside receivers push vertical go and post routes to hold the deep safeties, the slot receiver runs a drag underneath from the opposite side, and the tight end works an out route into the void vacated by flowing linebackers, while the running back releases on a swing route to the flat as a checkdown and outlet against blitz pressure. This is a Cover 3 beater by design, using the flood concept (swing, out, drag) to overload the weak side underneath zones while the go and post routes occupy the deep third defenders.

Defensive Reads

Check the middle of the field pre-snap: a single high safety often signals Cover 3 or Cover 1, both of which this flood concept is designed to attack. Post-snap, key the flow of the linebackers on the play-action fake, if they bite hard on the run, the drag and out routes will have wide open throwing lanes. Watch for a user controlled defender sitting in the shallow zone or spying the drag route, since a smart lurk defender can jump the underneath crosser and bait a turnover. Against Cover 2 or Cover 4 shells with two deep safeties, the go and post routes will likely be bracketed, so shift your primary read to the swing or out route in the flood.
