3-2 Swap Dbl Mug is a defensive set, not an offensive one, and that distinction matters because everything about it is built to disguise pressure from a six defensive back shell. The Big Dime 4-1-6 personnel puts four defensive linemen (RLE, RRE, RDT, NT) on the field alongside a single substitute linebacker (SUBLB) and six defensive backs, including the slot corner (SLCB). The "Swap" tag refers to the interior line alignment being flipped from the base 3-2 look, which changes which gaps the tackles attack and gives you different one on one matchups against guards without touching your play art. The "Dbl Mug" element walks two defenders into the A gaps pre-snap, so the offense sees six potential rushers against five blockers and has to declare protection before the snap.
What separates this set from other Dime sets is that you get heavy personnel pressure looks with light coverage personnel behind it. Standard Dime sets trade rush for coverage, but the four man front here means you can bring Cover 3 Sky, Cover 3 Match, or Tampa 2 with a real four man rush and still have six bodies to cover slot receivers and tight ends in space. The mug alignment is the disguise engine: from the same pre-snap picture you can run LB Pop 0, Blitz Loop 0, Hot Blitz 3, and Cover 1 Games, meaning your opponent cannot tell whether the mugged defenders are rushing, spying, or dropping into the hook zones.
The coverage package is what makes this set a closer. Nickel Sim 2, SS Sim 2, and CB Bench Sim 2 give you simulated pressure with two deep safeties, which is the answer to the deep shot offenses throw when they read blitz off the mug look. SS 2 Trap and Nickel 2 Trap are your trap coverage calls that bait outside throws to the flat and sideline, and they punish quarterbacks who pre-read the corner alignment. Redzone DT Drop and 1 DT LB Loop add rush lane variety so you are not showing the same four man path every snap.
Use this set on third and five plus against three and four wide sets, where the offense has to declare protection and cannot safely check into a run
Show the double mug every snap and rotate between Nickel Sim 2 and Blitz Loop 0 so your opponent has to guess whether the A gap defenders are rushing, and user the free safety to take away the deep middle
Pre-snap, count the offense's blockers: if a running back stays in to block, drop to the simulated pressure calls and cover; if the offense goes empty, bring LB Pop 0 or Hot Blitz 3
Pinch the defensive line and spread linebackers when you suspect a draw or inside run, and shift the SUBLB to the likely run side before the snap
Run SS 2 Trap or Nickel 2 Trap against opponents who live on outside comebacks and sideline throws, since the trap defender jumps the route and turns a completion into a pick
Blitz Loop Sim 3 and Mid Blitz are your change ups when an opponent starts chipping your edge rushers with a back or tight end
