Bounce Inside Zone Lt is a run play out of the Shotgun Wing Slot Offset WK set with 12 personnel on the field. The blocking scheme starts as inside zone with the offensive line stepping left in unison, but the design gives the running back a natural bounce-outside lane if the interior gets clogged. The primary read progression starts with the play side A gap and B gap, then works to the bounce lane outside the tackle if defenders flow hard inside, using the extra gap advantage from the wing and slot alignment on that side.
Pre-snap, count the box and look for the strong safety or extra linebacker cheating down near the line since that signals a run blitz aimed at the inside zone action Watch the defensive tackle alignment on the play side, if they are shaded to spill outside they can blow up the bounce lane before it develops Post-snap, key the play side linebacker flow, if he attacks the line hard and fast the cutback bounce lane outside will be there for the running back User controlled defenders flying downhill to spy the running back at the mesh point are the biggest threat to this play, so be ready to cut it back inside if the user commits outside Zone drops from linebackers into short areas usually mean they respected the run action late, which opens up the play-action pass options from this same formation on a later snap Cover 2 or single high shells with safeties staying deep tend to leave light boxes that this run play exploits, while two deep safeties rotating down into the box pre-snap is a sign to change the call
Check the box count before the snap and only run this into light boxes with six or fewer defenders since the extra TE and wing alignment gives you a numbers advantage there
Take manual control of the running back immediately after the mesh point so you can plant and bounce outside the moment you see the play side tackle get beat or a linebacker filling the B gap
Use this on early downs like first and ten or second and short to keep defenses honest and set up your play-action shots later in the drive
Pair this with PA Dagger or Mtn PA Cross out of the same formation since the run action sells the same zone steps and pulls linebackers up for the deep shots
Audible into this from a passing look if you see the defense showing a light front or a single high safety rotating late, since that usually means fewer bodies in the run fit
Avoid calling this into stacked eight man fronts or heavy blitz packages that key the mesh point, since the bounce lane gets cut off fast by fast flowing linebackers
