Jet HB Off Tackle is a run play out of Shotgun Split Y-Flex that uses jet motion across the formation to manipulate the defensive edge before the handoff hits off tackle. The blocking scheme relies on the offensive line and TE to seal the edge defender and create a crease between the tackle and TE, while the jet motion forces linebackers to flow horizontally and open up the interior lane. The primary read is the play side edge defender and the first unblocked linebacker, so the ball carrier should press the hole and cut inside if the edge is sealed or bounce outside if the LB overcommits to the jet motion flow.

Use the jet motion pre-snap to identify if the defense shifts a linebacker or defender out to the flat, which tells you if they respect outside run threats

Run this on early downs like first and second and short to medium yardage when defenses are more likely to sit in base run fits instead of nickel or dime packages

Pair this with Read Option and HB Draw from the same set to keep linebackers guessing between jet sweep, zone read, and downhill draw action

If the defense shows a heavy box with six or more defenders near the line, consider audibling to Jet Touch Pass or Jet PA Y Cross to punish overaggressive run fits

Manually control the fullback or TE blocker if available to seal the edge defender since AI blocking can whiff against user controlled defenders shooting gaps
