The X runs a deep dig that crosses the field while the TE and slot run a curl and flat combo underneath on the frontside, the RB releases out of the backfield on a wheel route up the sideline, and the outside receiver on the strong side runs a vertical seam route. The primary read starts with the seam route as a shot play if the corner bites on the curl, then works down to the curl/flat combo and finally to the deep crossing route as a checkdown against zone drops.

Defensive Reads

Watch the flow of the linebackers at the snap, if they sink hard into curl zones the deep crossing route will have a soft window behind them. Key the deep safety over the seam route, if he stays flat footed at the snap that vertical route is your best shot play answer. Look for a corner blitz off the edge presnap since the flat route is your immediate answer to beat pressure before it arrives.
