60 Go from Trips Open Pistol is a vertical shot play built around clearing space for the trips side while isolating the backside X on a solo go route. Off the trips bunch, the outermost receiver runs a deep go up the sideline, the middle slot runs a quick out that settles at the sticks, and the inside slot releases vertically then breaks into a corner route toward the sideline, creating a natural high low stretch on that side. The backside receiver runs a straight go route up the numbers, and the running back in the backfield checks protection with a hot route arrow before releasing, giving the quarterback a four man route combination with two vertical stems on both sides of the field. This is a man beater designed to attack single high or press man coverage, with the primary read starting on the backside go route for a one on one shot before working to the corner route breaking open underneath the safety on the trips side.
Pre snap, identify whether the defense shows single high or two high safeties, since single high with the safety shaded to trips leaves the backside go route in isolated man coverage. Watch cornerback press alignment on both the backside X and the outside trips receiver, tight press man is vulnerable to the double go stems if you can win off the line. Post snap, key the flat defender on the trips side, if he sinks with the out route the corner route from the inside slot should sit down in the void behind him. Look for user controlled lurk defenders dropping into the middle of the field, since a rover or mable defender sitting in the throwing lane can jump the corner route or the underneath out. This play is shut down by two deep safety shells with disciplined zone drops and by any exotic pressure package that collapses the pocket before the go routes clear the intermediate defenders, so respect overload blitz looks and check the hot route accordingly.
Check the safety alignment before the snap, if you see one deep safety shaded to the trips side that is your cue to work the backside go route for a one on one shot against man coverage.
Use the corner route out of the trips bunch as your secondary read against two high shells, since the underneath out route occupies the flat defender and opens the corner window against zone.
Hot route the running back into a quick check release or leave him in to protect if you are getting five or six man pressure looks, this buys the go routes time to develop downfield.
Call this on early down and distance or in shot situations where you are willing to take a deep shot, since the go routes take time to develop and expose you to quick pressure if the protection breaks down.
Pair 60 Go with 61 X Choice or Levels Switch in the same set to keep the defense guessing between deep shots and underneath option routes, forcing linebackers and safeties to respect both levels of the field.
