Jet Touch Pass is a quick perimeter throw built off jet motion out of Pistol Doubles Hip. The diagram shows the jet motion receiver crossing the backfield and getting an instant touch pass behind the line, while a second receiver crosses underneath to occupy the flat defender and clear a lane. This is a run-pass conceptual screen designed to beat aggressive flow defenses and overpursuit, with the primary read being the jet man in space unless the flat defender sits and takes it away, in which case you check to the shallow crosser as the outlet.
Watch the flat defender and outside linebacker pre-snap, if they are aligned tight to the box expecting run support they will struggle to react to the touch pass timing. Post-snap, key whether the linebackers flow hard with the jet motion, aggressive flow defense is exactly what this play is designed to exploit. User-controlled defenders who stay home and shuffle laterally instead of committing to the fake will shut this down quickly, so avoid calling this into a defense that shows disciplined edge containment. Cover 2 and Cover 3 shells with a slow-reacting corner or safety rotating late are vulnerable since the touch pass gets out before the shell can rotate over. Beware of contain blitzes off the edge, since a defender crashing the backfield untouched can disrupt the touch pass before it develops.
Use this play against defenses that key run flow hard off jet motion, since linebackers and edge defenders biting on the sweep action create the cutback lane for the touch pass.
Snap the ball right as the jet man crosses the frame to sync the catch point with the blocking release, timing is everything on this quick game concept.
Pair this with Zone Fake Jet or Read Option earlier in a series so the defense starts keying run on jet motion, then hit them with Jet Touch Pass to punish overaggressive linebackers.
Best used on early downs or short yardage third downs where a low risk, high floor gain is valuable and defenders are more likely to sell out against the run.
If the defense shows a hard edge or scrapes a linebacker to the flat immediately, be ready to pull it back and check to the crosser instead of forcing the touch pass outside.
