Fk Jet Divide is a play-action pass off jet motion out of Pistol Doubles Hip with 11 personnel. Post snap the fake jet sweep freezes linebackers while the two outside receivers run vertical seams up the numbers, the slot runs a deep crosser over the middle that divides the two safeties, and the backside X breaks off a sharp corner route toward the sideline. This is a shot play built to beat man coverage and single high shells, with the divide route as the primary read since it isolates the safety and creates a big play window if the defense bites on the jet fake.
Defensive Reads
Key the flow of the linebackers on the jet fake, if they crash down hard on the run action the divide route and seams will have room to work behind them. Watch the deep safety at the snap, if he bites on the play action or widens too far outside he cannot get to the divide route in time. Identify man coverage by watching the motion defender, if a corner or nickel trails the jet motion across the field the defense is likely in man and vulnerable to the seams. Look for a lurking linebacker or hook defender sitting in the middle of the field, a disciplined zone defender can undercut the divide route if he does not respect the run fake. Cover 2 or Cover 4 shells with safeties staying high and disciplined will squeeze the seams and the divide route, forcing the check down to the corner route on the backside.
Usage Tips
Run this on early downs or after establishing the actual jet sweep run so the fake carries real threat and linebackers step up.
Pre-snap, check for single high safety or a defense that is showing man coverage across from your slot, that is your green light to trust the divide route over the middle.
If the safety stays deep and covers the divide, look to the backside corner route as your outlet since it attacks off zone leverage on the boundary.
Use jet motion to identify man versus zone before the snap, if the corner follows the motion man across the formation you are getting man coverage and the seams open up.
