Breakdown

94 Will out of the Weak I Close Flex set is a power run play designed to hit off tackle to the weak side. The fullback and blocking backfield lead through the hole while the offensive line seals down with double team blocks at the point of attack, and the HB path bends outside the tackle for a downhill cutback lane. This is a pure run concept with no play-action window, and the primary read is the play side double team: press it hard to the edge, then look inside off the pulling blocker's hip for a cutback lane.

Defensive Reads

Look for the linebackers to key on the fullback's lead path, if they flow hard to the play side immediately you have a cutback window developing behind the double team. Watch the weak side defensive end and outside linebacker alignment before the snap, a wide 9 technique or crashing edge can blow up the off tackle lane before it forms. Man coverage shells with single high safety leave extra run support in the box, so expect a quicker linebacker trigger and less cutback room. Zone shells with two deep safeties often rotate a linebacker down late, so identify if that defender is spying the fullback or filling the alley before committing to the cutback. User controlled defenders flowing hard to the strong side can be exploited by patient backs who press the hole and cut away from the flow.

Usage Tips

Use 94 Will on early downs like 1st and 10 or 2nd and short to stay ahead of schedule against base 4-3 and 3-4 fronts.

Check the box count pre-snap, if the defense has 7 or more in the box, consider audibling to a pass concept from this same set like Mesh or Qk Slants.

Pair this with HB Dive and HB Counter from the same personnel grouping to keep linebackers guessing on gap direction and freeze the second level.

User the fullback through the hole and manually pick your block rather than letting the AI decide, this gives you control against a spy or a hard crashing edge defender.

Run this against light boxes or when defenders are stacked in coverage looks, since the weak side often has fewer bodies to defeat blocks.
