Cheat Bunch Drive Corner is a bunch formation pass concept out of Shotgun Tight Flex that stacks three receivers tight to the formation to create natural rubs against man coverage. Off the snap, the two outside receivers push vertically into corner routes toward the sideline while the inside bunch receiver runs a drive route underneath across the field, with a shallow crosser working from the opposite side beneath the corners. The offensive line pass protects in a standard drop back scheme, and the primary read progression starts with the corner route to the play side, works down to the underneath drive route sitting in the void, and checks the crossing route as a final release valve against zone leverage.
Pre-snap, identify two deep safeties as a sign of Cover 4 or Cover 2, which this concept is designed to exploit with the corner routes stretching the outside zones. Watch cornerback alignment on the bunch, tight press corners signal man coverage and the natural rubs from the bunch release will spring the drive route open underneath. Post-snap, key the flow of the underneath linebackers, if they sink hard to cover the drive route the corner route behind them should be open in the vacated space. Look for a user controlled defender lurking near the drive route crossing lane since aggressive human players often sit in that window to jump the underneath throw. This play struggles against a hard Cover 3 sky or Cover 1 with a robber underneath, since the single high safety can rotate over the top of the corner route and the robber closes the drive route lane before it develops.
Use pre-snap motion out of the bunch to identify if the defense is playing man or zone based on whether a defender follows the motion man across the formation.
This play is a Cover 4 beater, so look for two high safeties sitting deep before the snap and attack the corner routes to the boundary where the safety has to widen out of his zone.
Hot route the drive route into a deeper option against soft zone shells if the underneath defenders are sitting too shallow to threaten the corner routes.
Best called on second and long or third and medium since the corner routes need room to develop and the drive route offers a quick underneath answer against blitz looks.
Pair this with Cheat Bunch Switch Flood or Cheat Bunch HB Draw from the same set so the defense has to respect both the vertical bunch releases and the ground game out of identical formation looks.
