Breakdown

Posts out of Shotgun Ace Slot Offset lines up two receivers to the left, a tight end attached in-line, and a slot receiver plus an isolated X to the right. The left slot receiver runs a deep post that crosses the field while the outside receiver on that side clears out with a deep over route, and the tight end works an underneath crosser to occupy linebackers. On the right side the isolated receiver breaks inside on a shallow crossing post while the running back releases to the flat for a checkdown outlet. Defensive Reads

Identify single high safety pre snap, that alignment tells you the deep post has room to work against man coverage on the backside. Post snap, track the middle linebacker's drop, if he sinks with the crossing route the underneath window closes and you should climb the progression to the post. Look for two deep safeties rotating late, that shell suggests zone coverage and you should target the crosser sitting in the hole rather than forcing the post. Beware disguised blitzes off the edge since the post takes a full breath to develop, if you see extra rushers crashing off the slot corner's alignment, get the ball out on the flat check down immediately.

Usage Tips

Use this on early downs or second and medium when you have play clock to let the deep post develop against single high shells.

Check the safety alignment pre snap, if you see one deep safety cheating toward the trips side, the backside post has a clean lane against man coverage.

Hot route the flat back to a quicker option or keep him in as a check valve against pressure heavy fronts since the post takes time to develop.

Pair this with Flood or PA Y Corner from the same set to keep defenders honest on the same route concepts from different launch points.

Against zone heavy defenses, target the underground crosser working away from the post since it settles into the soft spot vacated by flowing linebackers.
