PA Comeback Seam is a play-action pass out of Shotgun Ace Offset that shows a three level stretch to one side and a comeback route breaking outside from the backside X. Off the run fake, both inside receivers push vertical up the seams while the widest receiver on the left snaps his route back outside on the comeback, and the single receiver to the right runs a corner breaking route out toward the sideline. This concept beats zone coverage by putting two seam runners between the hashes to split the safeties while the comeback and corner routes occupy the sideline defenders, with the primary read starting on the seam routes for a explosive shot before working back to the comeback against off coverage.

Usage Tips

Sell the play-action fake by holding the ball on the run animation before releasing to freeze linebackers and get eyes off the seam runners

Read the safety shells pre-snap, if you see two high safeties bail deep at the snap the comeback route on the boundary becomes your first read against off man or soft zone

Against single high or Cover 3 rotation, throw the seam route away from the rotating safety since that seam runner splits the middle of the field before the safety can get over top

Use the corner route on the right as a late progression check against Cover 2 corners that jump the comeback route underneath

Pair this play with Curl Flats or Quick Slants earlier in a drive so the defense sees run action and short throws first, then hit the seam route off play-action once linebackers start creeping up on run fits
