Dt Mike Loop 3 is a Cover 3 zone blitz look out of the 2-4 Single Mug set that combines a defensive line stunt with a three deep, four under zone shell. The diagram shows both outside corners and the deep safety dropping into their deep thirds while the underneath defenders flow to their zone drops, with the Mike and one DT looping through a stunt to confuse the interior blocking scheme. This is a zone beater blitz designed to generate interior pressure without sacrificing deep coverage integrity, and the primary read is the quarterback's eyes to determine if he has to hold the ball long enough for the stunt to win up front.
Pre-snap, look at the safety depth and corner alignment to confirm you are getting a true three deep shell rather than a disguised Cover 1 or Cover 4 rotation. Watch the running back and tight end alignment since heavy protection formations can pick up the interior loop stunt and turn this into a coverage-only rep. Post-snap, key the quarterback's drop depth and eyes, if he is throwing quick game or screens the stunt will not have time to develop and you rely on the underneath zone defenders to close throwing lanes. This beats teams that rely on deep breaking routes and slow developing man beater combos since the three deep shell has the middle and both outside thirds covered. It struggles against quick RPOs, screens, and hot route sight adjustments to the flat since the underneath defenders are occupied reading their zone drops while the stunt develops up front.
Call this play on early downs or second and medium when offenses are likely to run a deeper drop back passing concept, since the three deep shell holds up against verticals while the stunt works. Pre-snap, check the offensive line splits and running back alignment to confirm the stunt has a clean lane, and if you see max protect or heavy chip help on the interior, consider hot routing the looping DT to bail into a shallow zone instead. Disguise this call by mixing it with Cov 3 Buzz Match or Cover 9 from the same formation so the offense cannot key on the deep thirds shell before the snap. Use user control on the Mike linebacker if you want to manually time the loop stunt against known snap counts, since the CPU logic can be a beat slow. Sequence this with Nickel Blitz 3 or Blitz Tex 3 Sim 3 earlier in the game so the quarterback has seen pressure from different gaps and is less able to identify the loop stunt on film.
