The diagram shows both outside cornerbacks and the deep safety carrying vertical thirds while the two underneath zone defenders (yellow) sit at intermediate depth with crossing drop angles, and the purple defenders wall off the flats and short hook zones. This is a zone beater against the run and short-to-intermediate passing game, with the primary read for the defense being outside in: cornerbacks jam and carry any vertical release before settling into their deep third, then work back to any comeback or curl route developing underneath.
Defensive Reads
Read the quarterback's eyes to the flat first since the sky defender is the trigger man on any RPO bubble or quick out route. Watch for stacked or bunch receiver alignment pre-snap, which can create natural picks against the purple flat defenders and force a bust in coverage. Post-snap, key the underneath yellow zone defenders' drop angles crossing at midfield, since this is designed to squeeze in-breaking routes and shallow crosses before they reach the middle. This shell is vulnerable to deep out routes and corner routes attacking the seam between the deep third defenders and the sky rotation, especially against four verticals concepts. Man beater route combos like double moves or double slants can exploit the sky rotation if the flat defender bites too hard on the shallow route, so user control that flat defender to stay patient.

Pre-snap, identify if the offense is trying to stress the flat with bunch or trips formations, since the sky corner or safety has to balance flat responsibility with deep third leverage.
Hot route the underneath yellow zone defenders to widen their drops if you are seeing spot concepts or shallow crossers attack the intermediate middle.
