Zero Blitz out of the 3-2 Dollar Big Dime 3-2-6 personnel is a Cover 0 man pressure package that sends five or more rushers while leaving every eligible receiver in single coverage with no deep safety help. There is no zone drop or spy, so every defender either blitzes or locks onto a man assignment, making this a pure man to man beater killer if your user gets beat off the snap. The blitz design overloads one side of the protection, and the primary presnap read for the defense is identifying which gap the extra rusher attacks so you can time your user blitz to hit before the quarterback can climb the pocket.
Presnap, identify if the offense has a running back releasing to the flat or a tight end staying in to block, since that tells you which gap is the naked blitz lane. Watch cornerback and safety alignment tight to the line with no deep help, this confirms Cover 0 and tells the offense there is no safety valve over the top if they win their route quickly. Postsnap, key the quarterback's eyes immediately after the snap, since Zero Blitz dies to any quick game concept like slants or hitches that beat man coverage before the rush arrives. This blitz gets shut down by play action rollouts and screens, since the aggressive rush flow creates wide open throwing lanes and uncovered space behind the blitz. Look for the offense to counter with a hot route to the single receiver against your most vulnerable defensive back, so user that defender in man coverage press if you can to disrupt the release.
Only call Zero Blitz when you have a clear numbers advantage on the pass rush and the offense has shown a tendency to hold blocks or run max protect, since any free release receiver will torch the lack of a deep safety.
Check the offensive formation presnap for stacked or bunch receivers, because a hot route to a slot fade or quick out can beat man coverage before your rush even develops, so consider audibling into Zero Blitz only against 2x2 or 3x1 sets you have already scouted.
User the most talented pass rusher off the edge or through the overloaded gap and manually mash the truck stick or swim move timing to win before the quarterback can throw a hot route.
Use this on third and long or in two minute situations where the offense is likely to max protect or use a slow developing play action, since your rushers will have a numbers advantage and the coverage defenders only need to hold up for a second or two.
Pair Zero Blitz with Cover 1 Robber Press and Corner Blitz 2 in the same play calling sequence so the offense cannot sit on one blitz look, alternating between all out pressure and a robber shell to bait check downs.
