Overview

Sim Screenrunblend Ph Offense is a 173 play specialty offense built around one idea: win from under center with heavy personnel, then punish overcommitted defenses with screens and play action off those same looks. Singleback accounts for 137 of the 173 plays (79%) across nine sets, which makes this one of the most Singleback concentrated books in the game. Shotgun is a 24 play afterthought (14%, two sets), Goal Line Offense carries nine plays in a single set, and Hail Mary rounds it out with three plays across two sets. If you want a book where every third call comes from a Gun Bunch or Gun Trey spread look, this is not it. If you want to grind clock from 23, 12 and 20 personnel while keeping ATL Slip Screen and Play Action shots live off identical formations, it is exactly what you want.

The concept list tells you how the run game is supposed to function. Power and Power Run, Counter, Toss, Dive and general Run Play calls give you gap scheme downhill football with pulling linemen, plus FB Dive and 0 1 Trap for short yardage interior work. The passing side is deliberately narrow and complementary: Play Action, Flat, Spot, Motion and a Cover 3 Beater tag. That means you are not reading full field progressions on third and long, you are attacking flat defenders and curl droppers with Spot and Flat concepts that pair naturally with the run looks, and you are using screens to get the ball to a back in space when the box is stacked.

Choosing Sim Screenrunblend Ph Offense over a spread book means accepting that your formation tells are minimal but your personnel tells are loud. With 23, 12, 11, 20 and 10 personnel all represented, you can sub the same Singleback sets into heavy or light groupings and force your opponent to guess from the defensive play call screen rather than from the alignment. Goal Line Offense gives you a legitimate nine play package inside the five instead of forcing a Singleback power call, and Hail Mary is there as a three play end of half or end of game option. This is a clock control, possession, screen-and-play-action book for players who want to play sim style football and dictate tempo.

Scheme Fit

Sim Screenrunblend Ph Offense wants a downhill power back with good Trucking, Ball Carrier Vision and Carrying, plus a fullback and two or three blocking tight ends to make 23 and 12 personnel functional. Because the pass game runs through Play Action, Spot, Flat and screens, the quarterback needs Play Action rating and short to intermediate accuracy far more than deep ball or scrambling ability, and your running back needs real Catching and Route Running to make the screen package hit. Pick this book if you like clock control, gap scheme running and setting up screens off run tendencies, and avoid it if your roster is built around a mobile quarterback and four receiver spread sets, because 79% of the plays here start under center in Singleback.

Strengths

  • Nine Singleback sets across 137 plays means you can build an entire audible package that never leaves one formation family, so your run, screen and Play Action calls all present the same pre-snap picture and your opponent cannot read your intent from alignment.
  • The Power, Power Run, Counter, Toss and Dive concept mix gives you multiple ways to attack the same gap, so when a user linebacker starts flowing hard on Power you have Counter and Toss out of identical Singleback looks to punish the overpursuit.
  • Screen concepts like ATL Slip Screen live inside the heavy Singleback shell, meaning a defense that walks a safety down to stop 23 and 12 personnel runs hands you the space behind the front seven with no formation change required.
  • Personnel range from 23 all the way to 10 lets you formation sub across the same Singleback sets, so you can run four wide and two back looks from the concentrated formation base and force your opponent to identify personnel rather than formation.
  • A dedicated nine play Goal Line Offense set gives you a real short yardage and red zone package, so FB Dive and 0 1 Trap style interior calls are not your only option inside the five.

Weaknesses

  • Only 24 Shotgun plays across two sets, so once you are in obvious two minute or third and long situations you lose the formation variety most opponents are used to defending, and a user who sits in a Cover 3 or Cover 4 shell can squeeze the limited Spot and Flat concepts available.
  • The pass concept list is narrow (Play Action, Flat, Spot, Motion, one Cover 3 Beater tag), which means very few true man beating vertical route combos. Press man across the board with a user over the top is the cleanest way to attack this book.
  • The 79% Singleback weighting makes you predictable under center. An opponent who commits to run fits and plays the flats aggressively can take away both the gap scheme run and the screen game at the same time.
  • No true empty or heavy spread family means no pre-snap read advantage from width. You have to earn leverage with motions and hot routes rather than by simply aligning four receivers to a side.
  • Hail Mary is only three plays across two sets, so your desperation package is thin and easy to anticipate when the clock forces you into it.

Usage Tips

Build your primary audible package entirely out of three or four Singleback sets and stack a Power Run, a Counter or Toss, a Play Action shot and a screen in the same group so first and second down calls all start from one look.

Reach for ATL Slip Screen and the other screen calls on second and medium after you have established Power and Dive, specifically once you see a user linebacker or a walked down safety triggering downhill on your run key.

On third and four to seven, go to the Spot and Flat concepts and hot route the back to the opposite flat. These are your zone beaters, and the Cover 3 Beater tagged play is your answer to single high shells.

Save the 24 Shotgun plays for two minute and clear passing downs, and mix in the Motion concept there to identify man or zone before the snap since you have no wide spread family to read coverage from.

Inside the five, call from the nine play Goal Line Offense set rather than forcing FB Dive or 0 1 Trap from a Singleback look, and use formation subs to put your best blocking tight ends and a power back on the field.
