TE Corners out of Singleback East Tight (13 personnel) is a heavy play-action leaning pass concept built around multiple corner routes attacking the deep outside zones. Both tight ends and a receiver break to the corner at varying depths, creating a natural high low stretch on cornerbacks and flat defenders while the backfield action holds linebackers. This is primarily a zone beater since it floods the corner zones with three separate breaking routes, though it can still win one on one against man coverage if you identify a favorable matchup. The primary read progression starts with the shortest developing corner route in the flat, then works to the intermediate corner breaking route, and finishes with the deepest corner route as your shot play if the safety bites on underneath traffic.
Watch for a single high safety rotating late to the play side corner route, which signals Cover 3 or Cover 1 and tells you to work the underneath corner route instead of forcing the deep shot Identify if the flat or curl to flat zone defender widens quickly after the snap, since a disciplined zone drop can undercut the shallow corner route and bait a bad throw Key the cornerback's press or off alignment presnap, tight press man coverage means the corner routes have less separation early so hold the ball an extra beat for the break Look for a user controlled defender lurking in the intermediate zone since a smart user can jump the middle corner route and create a pick six opportunity Recognize overload blitz packages from the weak side, which can collapse the pocket before your deepest corner route develops, forcing you to check down to the first corner breaking route
Check the safety alignment before the snap to confirm if you are facing a two high shell or single high look, since two high defenses tend to have a natural defender sitting in the deep corner area
Use motion or a hot route on the underneath corner route to turn it into a quick flat conversion if you see press man or Cover 0 to get an instant answer against blitz
Pair this play with HB Plunge or HB Counter WK earlier in a series to get linebackers and safeties creeping up before dialing up TE Corners for the double move effect on the back end
Best called on second or third and medium to long since the routes take time to develop and you need the pocket to hold up against four man rush
If the defense shows Cover 3 or Cover 4 with deep half or deep third defenders sitting outside, target the shortest corner route first before the flat defender can widen and undercut it
