The route concept typically features a flood look to the boot side with a deep out or corner route, an intermediate crosser or drag settling underneath, and a check-down option in the flat, making this a strong man beater against aggressive linebacker flow and a solid zone beater versus teams that overplay the run fake. The primary read progression starts with the deep flood route to see if the play-action bites a safety out of position, then works down to the intermediate route sitting in the void, and finishes with the flat route as the built-in safety valve on the move.
