RNS Streak X Shallow lines up out of Shotgun Trips Slots Close with three receivers bunched to the right and a single receiver X isolated to the left. The X runs a shallow crossing route underneath the formation while the three trips receivers run a streak, a deep dig that breaks vertical after an inside cut, and a wheel style route up the seam, creating a vertical stretch on the right side with a shallow drag pulling defenders away on the left. This is a man beater at its core, using the shallow drag from X to create natural rub separation against man coverage while the trips side floods the zone behind it, and the primary read progression starts with the streak on the outside, works down to the deep breaking route in the middle, and finishes with the shallow cross underneath if the top of the defense is covered.
Pre snap, identify the free safety alignment since a single high shell tells the streak can win outside against man coverage with no deep help Watch the cornerback over the X receiver, if he is playing off with inside leverage the shallow cross will have room to develop before any zone defender can react Post snap, key the middle linebacker or nickel defender for a lurk into the shallow cross throwing lane since a sitting defender there can jump the underneath route Track the safety rotation on the trips side, Cover 2 shells with two deep defenders can squeeze the deep breaking route and force a tighter throwing window Recognize disguised blitz packages pre snap by checking hot linebackers near the line, since a nano blitz can beat the protection before the deeper routes have time to develop
Check pre-snap for single high versus two high safety shells since the streak will win one on one against a lone deep safety in Cover 3 or Cover 1
If the defense shows man coverage with no help over the top, take the shot to the streak on first or second down to punish aggressive corners
Against zone coverage such as Cover 2 or Cover 4, work the deep breaking middle route into the seam gap between the corner and safety
Use the shallow cross as your checkdown against blitz heavy fronts since it clears out low and gives you a quick answer versus pressure
Pair this with 60 Go or Streak from the same set on back to back plays to keep the defense honest deep, then dial up RNS Hitches or RNS Georgia Mesh to attack underneath once safeties start cheating up
