Breakdown

RNS Streak lines up four wide out of Shotgun Spread Slots Close with 10 personnel and sends all four receivers vertically on streaks, with the inside slot receiver running a pure seam release straight up the middle of the field. This is a full field vertical stretch designed to isolate one-on-one matchups outside and beat man coverage on the outside numbers, while the seam route from the inside slot punishes single high safety looks and Cover 3 rotations that leave a hole up the pipe. There is no play-action or run element here, this is a straight drop back shot play with the QB reading outside in: check the boundary streak first, then work to the seam if the safety bites on run or play action elsewhere, and finally the field side streak as the last progression.

Defensive Reads

Pre snap look for two deep safeties, this signals Cover 2 or Cover 4 which flattens the streaks and takes away easy completions A single high safety pre snap is the green light, it means one deep defender has to cover four verticals and someone will win Watch cornerback depth at the line, corners playing off coverage will bail with the streaks and force a contested catch, while press corners can get beat instantly if they do not get a jam Post snap, track any linebacker or safety sinking into the deep middle seam, a defense using a robber technique will sit right in the seam throwing lane and bait a turnover Cover 3 with a hard sky or cloud rotation to one side leaves the opposite streak in a soft spot, throw away from the rotation Blitz packages that bring five or six rushers with no deep help are the biggest weakness for this play, if you see a nano blitz alignment get the ball out immediately on the shortest streak

Usage Tips

Use this play on obvious passing downs like third and long or as a shot play on first down to catch defenses playing base coverage

Check the safety alignment before the snap, if you see a single high safety shaded to one side, target the streak away from that help

Motion is not built into this play so identify man versus zone by watching the corners crash down at the snap versus sitting back in their zones

User the seam receiver in the slot post snap if you are worried about a robber or lurking linebacker jumping the throwing lane

Pair this with 90 Y Shallow or RNS Y Stick earlier in a drive to get defenders sitting on shorter routes, then come back to RNS Streak to hit them over the top

Against aggressive man blitz teams, throw this quickly off the snap to the boundary streak before the pocket collapses since there is no protection help built in
