The Deebo Package is a Shotgun set built around putting a wide receiver in the backfield next to the quarterback, turning a pass catcher into a ball carrier who can also release on routes. Most Shotgun sets use a traditional halfback in that spot. This set replaces that halfback with a speed and yards-after-catch threat, so defenses cannot key on backfield personnel to predict run or pass. The alignment pairs that backfield receiver with an off-ball tight end, the Y-off look that powers the Y-off Power Read and Y-off Power O concepts. That tight end can arc, kick out, or wrap as a lead blocker, which gives the set real gap scheme muscle despite its spread appearance.
The play list is compact but deliberately layered: Read Option, Y-off Power Read, Outside Zone, and Y-off Power O form a complete run menu that attacks inside, outside, and on the perimeter. WR Wheel and Mesh Spot are the pass complements. WR Wheel releases the backfield receiver up the sideline against linebackers who have been triggering downhill on the run game. Mesh Spot gives you a quick, reliable man and zone answer off the same pre-snap look. Because every play starts from the same alignment, the set makes it hard for the defense to diagnose run or pass before the snap.
The core matchup advantage is the backfield receiver. When the defense stays in base personnel to handle the run, that receiver draws a linebacker in man coverage, which is a mismatch on the wheel or on option routes out of the flat. When the defense goes to nickel or dime to cover him, the Y-off power concepts and outside zone can pound lighter boxes. That constant conflict for defensive coordinators is exactly why the Deebo Package works in competitive Madden.
Check the box count before the snap: against six or fewer box defenders, run Y-off Power O or Outside Zone, and against seven or more with a single high safety, audible to WR Wheel to attack the linebacker matched on your backfield receiver.
On Read Option and Y-off Power Read, watch the read key at the mesh point and pull the ball whenever the edge defender crashes inside; if your opponent users that end, flip the play so the read goes to the opposite side of their user.
Use Mesh Spot on third and short to medium against man coverage, and hot route the backfield receiver to a quick out or slant when you see a blitz so you have an immediate outlet.
Establish Outside Zone and Y-off Power O early in the game so the linebackers start triggering downhill, then call WR Wheel in the second half or in the red zone when they are cheating toward the line of scrimmage.
In two minute or long yardage situations, leave the set for a pass-heavy formation, since the limited pass menu becomes predictable once the defense knows you have to throw.
