Defensive Reads
Confirm single high safety alignment pre-snap, if the safety is rotated deep and centered this is likely Cover 1 or Cover 3, so hold the ball and let route concepts develop before committing. Watch the robber defender's depth and width before the snap, if he is shaded toward the middle of the field expect him to jump any drag, dig, or crossing route that tries to work through the intermediate zone. This coverage shell is vulnerable to option routes and speed outs that attack the boundary quickly before the robber can rotate over, so look for man beaters that isolate a corner one on one on the outside. Blitz off this shell sparingly since the man coverage behind it is already tight, but if you need a home run call late in the down and distance, mix in Mike Blitz 1 from the same personnel to keep the same picture.
