PA Jet Sweep out of Wildcat Trips Over sells the jet sweep action to the far side while the quarterback rolls out behind it off play fakes. Off the fake, the trips side runs a deep comeback/dig from the outside receiver, a deep drag crossing underneath from the middle receiver, and a shallow flat route from the inside slot, while the backside single receiver runs a deep vertical clear-out up the numbers. This is a play-action shot play designed to punish defenses that bite on the jet sweep action and vacate underneath zones, with the deep clear-out serving as the home run shot read against man coverage and the drag and flat serving as the zone beater checkdowns.

Pre-snap, identify whether the defense is playing base run support versus Wildcat personnel, heavy box counts signal they will sell hard on the jet sweep fake Key the linebacker depth at the snap, if they crash down on the jet motion instead of sitting in their zone drops the underneath drag and flat will be wide open Watch for user-controlled defenders spying the quarterback rollout, a smart user lurker can jump the drag route since the design pulls receivers into a condensed area Man coverage on the backside vertical is the biggest exposure point, if the cornerback bites on the run fake the deep clear-out becomes a explosive play Two high safety shells with disciplined linebacker zone drops shut this down hardest since they take away both the deep shot and the shallow checkdowns simultaneously
Usage Tips
Use this on early downs or in run-heavy personnel situations where the defense is keying run based on Wildcat and 22 personnel tendencies
Watch the linebacker flow pre-snap, if they are stacked tight to the box expecting run support they will bite on the jet motion and open up the drag and flat underneath
Hot route the flat route to a shallow drag or spot if you are seeing aggressive underneath zone drops that squeeze the middle of the field
Pair this with straight Jet Sweep and Counter earlier in a series so the defense over-commits to run fits before you dial up the play-action shot
Take the deep comeback or vertical shot read against single high safety looks, but check down to the drag against two high shells that keep the top of the defense capped
