Mtn Jet Sweep is a jet sweep run play out of Singleback Deuce Close Tilt with 21 personnel, designed to get outside edge speed with a motion man taking the handoff on the move. The blocking scheme pulls the play side, using the extra TE and FB to seal the edge and create a running lane before the defense can flow with the motion. This is a pure run play, not an RPO, and the primary read is the edge defender or force player, since the ball carrier should read the alley defender first to decide between bouncing outside or cutting up inside off the puller.
Key the defensive end and outside linebacker on the play side, since their reaction to the jet motion tells you whether they are staying home for contain or flowing hard to chase the sweep. Watch for a slanting defensive line pre-snap, since a hard slant away from the jet motion can beat this play by getting penetration before the pullers can seal the edge. Look for the strong safety or nickel defender rotating down into the box before the snap, which signals run support keyed on the motion and can shut down the outside lane. Man coverage shells that trigger defenders to run with the jet motion man create natural running lanes underneath, so attack the vacated area behind the flow. Watch for a designed edge blitz or nano blitz off the corner, since fast penetration from the perimeter is the main way disciplined defenses blow this play up before the blocking scheme develops.
Use pre-snap motion to force the defense to declare man or zone, since defenders that run with the jet motion man are tipping man coverage or a man shell blitz.
Run this against defenses that are showing light boxes or defenders cheating inside, since the edge speed of the jet sweep punishes overcommitted interior fronts.

Best called on early downs, first and ten or second and short, to keep the defense honest and avoid predictable long yardage run calls.
If the defense shows heavy edge contain pre-snap with the corner and safety squeezed outside, hot route the FB or TE to cut off the first defender past the line instead of trying to bounce it wide.
