Tight Slot Flip is Shotgun's compressed 11 personnel look that pulls the tight end down into a tight slot alignment on one side while flipping the strength away from the standard Shotgun Tight Slot presentation. Instead of the balanced 2x2 spacing you get from Shotgun Spread or the wide splits of Shotgun Trips, this set stacks bodies inside the numbers with the slot receiver and tight end working off a reduced split. That compression forces the defense to declare its coverage rotation early: safeties have to cheat toward the condensed side to handle the vertical stem of the slot, which leaves the single receiver on the flipped side on an island against whatever corner the defense leaves there.
Read the safety alignment first. Two high with the safeties shaded toward the compressed side means Sail or the backside choice route to the isolated receiver, single high means work the option routes inside off the rub.
On third down and medium, run Mtn Z Choice and let the option route diagnose coverage, but hot route the tight end to a drag as an outlet in case the defense brings a fifth man.
Use HB Draw and HB Slip Screen off the same alignment as the Mtn passing concepts so an opponent who starts blitzing your slow developing plays gets punished immediately.
Motion the flipped side receiver inside pre-snap to confirm man or zone, then audible into Inside Zone or HB Sweep if the defense follows and vacates the box edge.
Against Cover 4 or match coverage, hot route the outside receiver on the compressed side to a slant and let the choice route clear the middle for an easy pitch and catch on early downs.
