DBL Stop N Gos is a double move man beater out of the Full House 21 personnel look, designed to catch aggressive man corners jumping the stop route. Both the outside WR to the boundary (red) and the outside WR to the field (yellow) run stop and go routes, sitting down briefly before exploding vertically up the sideline, while the inside slot runs a short drag/flat route underneath as a checkdown outlet and the fullback releases up the middle as a safety valve. The primary read progression starts with the boundary stop and go to see if the corner bites, then works to the field stop and go, and comes down to the underneath drag or fullback release if both double moves are covered deep.
Man beater, so if you see man match or press man coverage pre snap you must respect the stop and go and stay disciplined on top instead of jumping the initial stop. Watch cornerback depth and hips at the snap, since corners who plant hard on the stop route stem are the exact defenders this play is designed to torch on the go. Zone shells like Cover 3 or Cover 4 with deep safety help over the top take away both go routes, forcing the quarterback into the underdrag or fullback checkdown. Key the flat defender and any user controlled linebacker dropping to the drag route, since a jumped underneath throw here is the easiest interception if the double moves are covered. Blitz packages that get pressure before the go route develops shut this play down, so watch for overload blitzes or nano blitz look sent from the offensive line's weak side.
Save this play for third and medium or second and long situations when defenses are more likely to press or sit in man coverage expecting a quick throw.
Look for corners playing tight press or off man pre snap since this play is built to exploit defenders who jump the initial stop portion of the route.
Use hot routes to check the drag route into a deeper in route if you diagnose zone coverage, since the double moves lose value against zone drops.
Pair this play with Curls or Slants earlier in a series so defenders start keying on quick game throws, then dial up DBL Stop N Gos to hit them on the double move.
Hold the throw button slightly longer than usual on the go portion to let the double move fully develop, but be ready to bail to the fullback release if the pass rush wins quickly.
