SS Tex Sim 2 is a simulated pressure package out of the Dime 1-4 Dbl Mug set, built to disguise where the fifth and sixth rushers are coming from while still dropping into a two deep shell behind it. The strong safety and a linebacker execute a tex (twist) exchange off the edge while the front drops two defenders into underneath zones, creating a five man rush that looks like a bigger blitz pre snap. Your primary read is the quarterback's eyes: if he is locked onto a hot route or checkdown, the underneath droppers are there to jump it, and the tex exchange up front is designed to beat the tackle who steps outside expecting a straight speed rush.
Watch the offensive tackle's first step, if he opens up expecting a wide rush the tex exchange defender will loop underneath him for a clean lane. Check the quarterback's drop, a quick three step drop into a hot route usually means the underneath zone droppers need to jump the route instead of staying deep. Identify empty or spread formations pre snap, this play struggles if the offense checks into a hot route beating the exact gap your extra rusher vacates. Man beater route combos with a tight end sitting in the vacated middle zone can exploit the seam this exchange creates, so keep an eye on the middle linebacker's drop depth. Against quick game or three step drops the pressure will not have time to develop, so this call is best held for downs where the offense is more likely to take a deeper shot.
Show the double mug look pre snap to bait the quarterback into thinking a straight A gap blitz is coming, then let the tex exchange work off that misdirection.
Use this on early down passing situations or second and medium when offenses are more likely to hold the ball an extra beat and let your rush get home.
Pair this with CB Tex Sim 2 in the same set so the offense cannot key on which side the exchange rusher is attacking, keeping their tackles guessing snap to snap.
User the strong safety through his tex path if you want to manually time the exchange rush, since the AI trigger can be a tick slow against quick set tackles.
Mix this in after calling Cover 3 Sky or Cover 2 Invert from the same formation so your shell looks identical pre snap, forcing the quarterback to hold the ball and eat pressure.
