The primary read progression starts with the deep shot off the play fake, working to the intermediate crosser or dig if the top is capped, then checking down to the outlet if the defense sits back.
Watch linebacker depth at the snap, if they crash hard toward the line on the fake it confirms they are biting on wide zone and the play action window is open. Check safety alignment pre snap, single high safety means the deep shot is live down the seam, two high means you need to attack the middle before rotation. Identify man coverage by looking for press corners and a defender shadowing the jet motion man, this tells you the crosser or dig will have separation. Beware of defenses that show run blitz or crashing edge pressure, since fast pressure off the edge can beat the play action fake before the pocket sets. If the defense sits in a soft zone shell with linebackers holding their drops instead of biting, check down quickly since the deep routes will be covered and the sticks throw becomes the better option.
Use jet motion pre snap to bait linebackers and check if the defense shifts a defender to spy or follow the motion, that tells you if you are getting zone or man coverage.
Run this on early downs like first or second and short to medium yardage when defenses are more likely to sell out on stopping wide zone HB runs.
