Man coverage shells with off-ball linebackers biting on receiver releases open up cutback lanes since nobody is sitting in the box to fill gaps. User-controlled defenders flashing down into the A or B gap right after the snap are trying to blow this up early, so be ready to bounce outside if your lead blocker cannot climb clean.
Call this on early downs against defenses that show heavy pressure looks or blitz-happy tendencies since the delayed handoff exploits over-aggressive rushers crashing upfield. Watch the middle linebacker depth pre-snap, if he is sitting shallow expecting a quick pass he will get caught flat-footed by the draw action. Use manual motion or a shift to bait linebackers into showing blitz, then snap it right after to freeze them in no-mans-land. Pair this with Mesh Traffic or PA Flood H-corner from the same set so the defense respects both the quick pass and play-action look off this personnel, keeping linebackers honest and less likely to sit on the draw. Best on second-and-medium or third-and-short where defenses expect a pass and load up the secondary, giving your lead blocker a numbers advantage in the box.
