The primary read progression starts with the corner route off the bunch to attack outside leverage, works down to the crossing route created by the natural traffic, and finishes with the HB leak as a built-in safety valve versus tight man coverage or a blitz.
Watch the alignment of the cornerback over the bunch before the snap, since tight press man alignment signals the corner route and crosser will have room to work through traffic. Identify single high safety looks like Cover 1 or Cover 3, as this play is designed to exploit man coverage with picks created by the bunch release. Against zone heavy shells like Cover 2 or Cover 4, sit in your zone drops and let the corner route and crosser come to you rather than biting on the initial bunch release, since this forces the quarterback into a tighter throwing window.
Presnap, check for man coverage indicators like tight press alignment on the bunch receivers or a single high safety rolled to the strength of the formation, since this play thrives against man to man due to the natural rub created by the bunch release.
If you see two high safeties or a clear Cover 2 or Cover 4 shell, consider hot routing the underneath receiver into a quick out or speed out to beat the flat defender before the corner route develops.
Use the HB leak route as your answer versus disguised blitzes, since the running back releasing late out of the backfield is often uncovered when the defense sends extra rushers off the edge.
Pair Seattle with Inside Zone or HB Counter from the same set to keep the defense honest on early downs, then dial up Seattle on second or third and medium once the defense starts sitting on the run.
Sequence this with PA Bunch Shot later in the drive since both plays start from the same bunch look, forcing the defense to respect both the run action and the man beating route combo out of an identical presnap picture.
