3 Seam Show 2 is a Cover 3 zone coverage disguise out of the Nickel 2-4 Odd set that shows a two-high safety look before rotating into a three deep, four under zone shell. Both outside cornerbacks sink into deep thirds while the two deep safety-aligned defenders convert into flat and seam zone drops, and the middle linebacker area drops into a shallow hook or curl zone underneath. This is a zone defense built to bait quarterbacks into throwing seam and flat routes against what looks like Cover 2 pre-snap, so the primary read progression for the defense is to identify the vertical seam threat first, then work outward to the flat receivers as they cross the underneath zone.
Defensive Reads
Pre-snap, key the two deep safety alignment mimicking Cover 2, this is the disguise element that should make quarterbacks think the seam is open. Post-snap, watch both safety-area defenders drop into their zone assignments rather than staying deep, this confirms the Cover 3 rotation is underway. This beats quarterbacks who throw seam routes with anticipation expecting Cover 2 leverage, since the seam defender is dropping into that lane. Man beater route combos with quick out cuts or speed outs to the flat can exploit the underneath zone if the flat defender is late getting to depth. Watch for user-controlled linebackers jumping the shallow hook zone too aggressively, this opens a throwing lane over the middle for crossing routes.

Pre-snap, hold your defenders at the two high alignment as long as possible before the snap to disguise the rotation into Cover 3.
