Overview
NFL Live Vikings Defense is effectively the same playbook as Vikings Defense. The NFL Live sheet shares all 436 of its plays with the standard cut and differs by 0 sets, so you can pick either one without losing a single call. Any audible package, coverage adjustment or blitz you lab in one carries over to the other unchanged. With 436 plays across 9 formations and 28 sets, it is larger than 95% of the game's 64 defensive team playbooks, and that depth is the main reason to run it.
The book is built around sub packages. Nickel carries 165 plays (38%) across 8 sets and Dime adds 108 plays (25%) across 5 sets, so nearly two thirds of the playbook puts five or six defensive backs on the field. The 3-4 is the clear third pillar at 81 plays (19%) across 6 sets, which gives you a real odd front for early downs instead of a token base look. The rest is spread thin: 4-3 at 21 plays, 2-4-5 at 18, Goal Line at 13, 3-3-5 and 4-2-5 at 12 each, and Prevent at 6.
The game plan this supports is coverage first with the option to send pressure on your terms. The concept list runs from Cover 2, Tampa 2, Cover 3, Cover 3 Buzz and Cover 4 zones through man coverage, Cover 1 Hole, Cover 0, LB Blitz, Edge Blitz and Zero Blitz. Calls like 3 Double Buzz, 3 Double Cloud and 1 Pirate Spy show a book designed to disguise shell rotation and account for a scrambling quarterback. It rewards players who want to live in Nickel and Dime against spread sets and drop into the 3-4 when the offense goes heavier.
Scheme Fit
NFL Live Vikings Defense wants a secondary deep in man capable corners, including a slot corner with zone awareness and at least one extra safety who can play buzz and robber roles, because most snaps come from Nickel and Dime. Up front it needs versatile outside linebackers with pass rush who can also set the edge in the 3-4, plus a stout interior lineman to hold the point when you stay in light boxes. It fits a player who wants to match spread offenses with sub packages, disguise zone and pressure from identical fronts and user a defender in coverage rather than line up in four down base every snap.

Strengths

Weaknesses
- The 4-3 has only 21 plays across 2 sets, so players who want a traditional four down base against heavy personnel have few options and will show the same two alignments repeatedly.
- With 63% of the book in Nickel and Dime, an opponent who stays in 12, 13 or 21 personnel and runs downhill can keep you in lighter boxes or force you to reach for the smaller 3-4 and Goal Line menus.
- Goal Line Defense has just 13 plays across 3 sets, so short yardage and red zone snaps inside the 3 yard line rotate through a narrow menu that a patient opponent can learn over a few possessions.
- The 3-3-5, 4-2-5 and 2-4-5 each live in a single set with 12 to 18 plays, so those fronts work as change ups but cannot carry a drive before an opponent keys on the alignment.
- Prevent has only 6 plays in 1 set, which leaves you relying on Dime Cover 4 and Cover 2 calls to protect late game leads against deep shots.
Usage Tips
Build your base audible package in Nickel: pair a Cover 3 Buzz or Cover 4 zone with a Cover 1 Hole man call and an LB Blitz so first and 10 against 11 personnel gives you one zone, one man and one pressure call from a single front.
On 1st and 10 or 2nd and short against 12 or 21 personnel, sub into the 3-4 and lean on its 6 sets for odd front run fits, mixing in Edge Blitz calls to keep the tight end in to block.
On 3rd and 7 or longer, move to Dime and alternate Tampa 2 and Cover 4 with a Zero Blitz, hot routing a hook defender into a buzz or robber zone to take away the quarterback's first read on option and dig routes.
Against mobile quarterbacks on 2nd and medium, call 1 Pirate Spy and user the deep middle so the spy handles scrambles while you take away the middle of the field.
Inside the 5, save Goal Line Defense for true short yardage and use the 3-3-5 or 4-2-5 as a one snap change up on 3rd and 3 so the thin single set menus do not get scouted.
