94 Will out of the Weak I H U Off set is a power run play designed to hit off tackle to the weak side. The diagram shows the fullback and lead blockers pulling to kick out the edge defender while the halfback takes a downhill path to the weak side hole, with the isolated receiver on the numbers running a vertical route to hold the corner deep. This is a pure run play with power blocking, not a play-action or RPO look, and the primary read is the FB lead blocker: follow his path through the hole, then find daylight based on how the strong side or weak side defensive end and linebacker flow to the point of attack.
Defensive Reads
Watch for a stacked box with eight or more defenders crashing down, which signals the defense is selling out to stop the power run and 94 Will should be avoided. Key the weak side defensive end and outside linebacker, if they stay disciplined and hold their gap the pulling blockers get eaten up and the play dies at the line. Check safety depth before the snap, a single high safety cheating toward the strong side leaves the weak side alley open for the halfback to break contain. Post snap, track any user-controlled linebacker flowing hard to the weak side hole, that lurk defender can blow up the lead blocker and force the runner to cut back. Man coverage on the isolated receiver with no safety help over the top is a green light since it confirms the defense is playing base run support underneath.
Usage Tips
Check the box count before the snap and only run this into light boxes with six or fewer defenders in the tackle box.
Look for linebackers cheating to the strong side since 94 Will attacks the weak side off tackle and exploits weak side overpursuit.
If the defense shows an overloaded front, hot route the isolated receiver into a quick slant or use audible logic to bounce outside instead of forcing it inside.
Pair 94 Will with Counter F and H Counter Strg in the same series so defenders keying on power flow get gashed by the counter action off similar formation looks.
Best used on early downs, first and second and short to medium yardage, when defenses are still respecting balanced run and pass tendencies out of Weak I.
