Defensive Reads

Identify if the defense drops into a shallow zone underneath, since that clogs the angle route and forces you to progress quickly to the seam or corner. Watch for a blitz off the edge that overloads the side away from the deep over route, this can open up a quick check down to the angle route as a built-in hot route answer. This play struggles against a two high shell with disciplined underneath linebackers who can sink and cut off the angle route while staying deep enough to defend the seam.
Usage Tips
