Defensive Reads
Watch linebacker depth at the snap since shallow drops signal zone coverage and open up the drag and corner routes over the top. Identify if the defense shows man coverage on the trey stack side, since press man leaves the flat route wide open for an easy completion. Track the deep safety rotation on the seam and out combo to the right, because a single high safety cheating over the top can jump the corner route. Look for a nano blitz or overload pressure off the edge, since the quick flat route serves as the built-in answer against pressure. If a linebacker sits directly on the stick concept in a lurk technique, expect him to jump the drag or flat, so counter by pushing the corner route deep instead.
Usage Tips
Presnap, check for single high versus two high safety alignment because this concept punishes both if you sequence your reads correctly.
Against man coverage, key the flat route first since it creates an easy pick against off corners and forces linebackers to make a decision in space.
Against zone, work from the stick flat to the drag and let the corner route occupy the deep defender, then hit the drag in the void behind the linebackers.
Use hot routes to slide the corner route into a deeper corner or convert it to a fade if you diagnose a single high safety rotating late.
