Empty Sketch Stack is Shotgun's five-wide answer that still carries 11 personnel on the field, meaning your back and tight end are detached and split out rather than attached to the formation. The "Stack" tag tells you everything about the alignment: receivers are stacked on top of each other rather than spread evenly across the numbers, which kills press coverage leverage and makes it nearly impossible for a defense to bracket a single target without vacating the interior. The "Sketch" designation puts the personnel in unbalanced positions, so you are constantly forcing the defense to declare strength before the snap. Unlike traditional Shotgun Empty sets that string all five out wide, the stacks here create built-in rub and release traffic that free your slot targets immediately off the line.
Read the pre-snap safety count first: single high means go to Flood X-Swirl or Post Cross Unders, two high means work the stacked posts into the vacated middle with Double Posts HB Zig.
Use QB Zone as your pressure punisher, not your base run, and only against defenses that vacate the box with blitz calls or heavy man coverage with no spy.
Hot route your inside stack receiver to a drag or slant when you diagnose a nano blitz, giving your quarterback an immediate throw before the free rusher arrives.
Set up Fk Screen Cheat Wheel by running Fk Cheat HB Screen earlier in the drive, then hit the wheel once the user starts flying downhill on the screen action.
Motion the outside stack receiver across the formation to identify man versus zone: if a defender follows, go to your man beater concepts and let the stack rub work.
On third and long, Verticals TE Option or Y Slot Choice against Cover 3 lets you sit the option route just past the sticks while the vertical stems clear the deep zones.
